
Christopher James Chaplin, born in 1962 in Lausanne, Switzerland, studied the piano with Irene Denereaz in Vevey before moving to London to become an actor.
In 2005, he took up music again and more specifically composition. In 2008, he was asked to write the music for a childrenís theatre project in Sweden called ěDe Osynliga Vannernaî (the Invisible Friends), which was performed in Norrkoping that same year.
In 2009, he wrote the music for a second theatre project for children, "Rappatack", which was premiered in Sweden on 22. November 2009. His piece "H2O Music", a trio for recorder, cello and piano, was performed in Stuttgart, Germany, also in November 2009.
In 2010, he wrote the first two movement of his String Quartet no 1. He collaborated with Viennese electronic musician Kava on the album "Seven Echoes", which was released by Fabrique Records that Summer.
In 2011, he wrote and finished the second movement for Scratch the Surface - an Orchestral piece which started in 2009. He was asked to do a collaborative session with musician Hans Joachim Roedelius for "Late Junction" program on BBC radio 3, which was broadcast in Spring. He wrote and completed the final two movements of his String Quartet no 1.
